Time integration for wave-type problems

Reliable simulation of wave phenomena is a crucial task in a large variety of technical and scientific applications. In the last decades a large toolbox of numerical methods for partial differential equations has been developped, but traditional schemes often yield unsatisfactory results when applied, e.g., to problems with nontrivial boundary conditions, grid-induced stiffness, highly oscillatory solutions, or a large number of unknowns. In this minisymposium a number of leading experts and young specialists will present and discuss recent advances in time-integration of, e.g., Maxwell‘s equations, nonlinear Schrödinger equations, wave equations, the Vlasov equation and other wave-type problems.
